When No or Not Yet is Not Enough

‭God Wants to Give us a Better Yes.

Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭31‬-‭33‬ ‭NLT‬‬

As we finish the first week of 2024, these verses reminds us not to be anxious about life's basic needs, as God understands and provides for them. Instead, we are encouraged to seek first His kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be added to us.

In times when it feels like every door is closing and 'No' or 'Not yet' are the only answers we receive, it's important to remember this. I've personally faced many closed doors and the disappointment of 'No' or 'Not now'. Through these experiences, I've learned the importance of trusting and pursuing God above all else.

It's in the daily, unseen moments where our true character is revealed. How do we react in times of hardship? Do we succumb to anxiety, anger, or depression, or do we turn to God, finding joy and strength in Him?

John Wooden, the legendary UCLA Basketball Coach, once said, 'The true test of a man's character is what he does when no one is watching.' This is true not only in sports but in life. Our private moments, known only to God, are where we truly grow and where He prepares us for His blessings.

So, I encourage you today to pursue God in every situation, especially when it's hardest. Pursue Him with all your heart, in pain, confusion, despair, or hurt. In those unseen moments, God is watching and preparing you for greater things.

'Ephesians 3:20-21' beautifully summarizes this: 'Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.' (NLT)
